Kincraig Castle Hotel

Excellent service from when we first made contact with hotel to when we arrived there. The staff were incredible, so welcoming and kind. A big thanks to all the staff that made our week in the hotel perfect. We were there for our wedding and honestly could not have asked for anymore. The food at the Kincraig was also amazing, we would definitely recommend and we will no doubt be visiting the Kincraig Castle hotel again.

We had reservations to stay at Kincraig “Castle” Hotel during October 2023. We paid extra for the estate rooms. Our room was on the third floor and there were no elevators. When we opened the door to our room, the smell of mold immediately overpowered us. There was mold all around the room. There is no way we could stay in the room overnight. The mattresses were worn out. I have included pictures of the mold and one bed before anyone touched it. You can see from the picture that the mattress is simply worn out. We told the front desk about the problems and simply got “oh”. No explanation other than the black on the window frame is the way the wood aged. I flip houses professionally and know the difference between aging and mold. Aging does not grow in small circles. Aging does not grow on paint. Aging does not grow on bare glass. I mentioned posting a review and the desk clerk then offered 2 of 3 days to be refunded. We went into town and found other lodging and came back and got our bags because we couldn’t stay in that much mold. We all got sore throats in the short time we were in the room. When we did come back, it was later and the windows were all covered with condensation on the inside. This explains why so much mold was growing. After we left, I read the reviews and saw that the owner chastised another reviewer for failing to contact the owner about the problems. I sent an email to the owner and later got a response from info@kincraig and the owner never responded as he said he would on the other review. This place is not a 4 star hotel as advertised. The staff was polite and friendly. The hotel clerk obviously has experience in dealing with disgruntled guests who did not get what was promised. The owner does not respond as he said. Others may have a different experience but the third floor rooms are riddled with mold.

Fantastic stay , staff were very welcoming and attentive, food was great and the room was great value for money, everyone was very friendly, can't wait until our next stay. Top class all round, would recommend to anyone. New pictures from the most recent visit , all staff are great and very friendly, would easily recommended for a visit for a day or 2 for anyone .

We arrived before checkin time, but the staff welcomed us to wait in the lounge. We ordered drinks and lunch, and even after our room was ready we chose to sit in front of the fire and read awhile. The room was very comfortable and well furnished. The staff was attentive and kind, and very welcoming. The dinner was delicious, but a bit overpriced. The breakfast had a lot of options and we were very pleased with our stay and the service. Could use a thorough cleaning, but we’d stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Kincraig in one of their Estate Double Rooms on May 11th. We only stayed for 1 night as we were on a private tour through Scotland as part of an Outlander Tour through Nordic Visitor. Our stay was very nice. They were very welcoming when we checked in and our room was very nice. Our room was very clean and nicely decorated with a beautiful window overlooking their grounds. The hotel was beautiful inside and out and we wished we had more then just the 1 night to stay there. We would have liked to have had a meal under their dome rooms outside but unfortunately we were only there for the night. Our breakfast was excellent and the staff took care of our every need. We would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Hotel is under new ownership. They are updating and it looks so much better than previous photos you may find on the internet. There’s still a ways to go. Beds are extremely “firm”. Individual rooms are decorated with lots of billowing dusty fabrics, and still need a lot of updating. You may be scalded while showering if another guest flushes the toilet or turns on the cold water anywhere in the building. The showers in general need to be addressed. Shower curtains were flimsy plastic that blow around while you shower and stick to you… which is not pleasant especially because they’re mildewed in places. The staff was extremely friendly. Sitting in the lounge and enjoying a drink from the bar was a highlight. The main area of the hotel is very nicely re-done, and staff treat you well. Would visit again as I met the owner and can tell he’s working to improve it.
